What’s involved

Initial assessment

The first session with your child involves an assessment of their developmental history, family life, strengths, challenges and goals. We will perform a thorough physical assessment of your child’s movement and formulate a treatment plan of how physiotherapy can best help. We may also use validated scoring measures to aid in our assessment and track progress over time.

In-clinic sessions

Kids are not mini-adults and often require a more fun, play-based approach to therapy. This is what we aim to implement in our physiotherapy sessions to ensure your child achieves the best outcome. Sessions within our clinic involve plenty of games and activities targeted at strength, balance, coordination and optimal movement.

Home exercise program

What happens at home is often just as (if not more) important than what happens in the clinic! Every family leaves their session with an individualised home program that is targeted towards the child’s needs and goals. We will continue to modify this program as your child progresses with their therapy.

Group classes

We understand that sometimes life gets in the way and therapy can’t always be implemented as often as planned. We offer small group classes (up to 4 participants) where your child can come and participate in their individualised exercise program under the supervision of a physiotherapist. Class times vary depending on our current caseloads so that we can group children with similar abilities. Private health rebates apply.

Family-centred approach

Family is key to successful therapy. Our goal is to empower parents/carers to play an active role in their child’s therapy and feel confident in doing so. We provide education on helpful ways to implement therapy into your busy routines and offer resources and support along the road.
